Trip to South Island - Day 5 (Dunedin)

Adventurer Backpackers - our accommodation in Dunedin

The first church in Dunedin - superb eh?
View all 18 photos...
Our next destination is Dunedin (pronounced as De-ni-den). Such a small town but full with old and historical buildings from the past hundred years. Credit to Aidy, our friend in Dunedin who was willing to show us around the city. We spent just about one day in Dunedin, as it was a last minute plan to go there. However, as we only had a short trip here, we tried as much as possible to maximise our time here. Some of the places that we managed to visit include the Olveston mansion (one of the legendary families), the Steepest Street in the World; Baldwin Street (it's true!), University of Otago (where many Malaysian students studying medicine) etc.

It was one truly worthwhile experience and we were glad that we decided to go down to Dunedin.

Trip to South Island - Day 2, 3 and 4 (Christchurch)

With friends in Cathedral Square

Wakey, wakey, a new day had come! Time to explore the city again, luckily, it was such a sunny day! In the morning, we spent most of our time in Cathedral Square. As later at night All Blacks played against the Lions, there were a lot of rugby fans lingering around the Square. It was crowded, yet, was an utmost meaningful experience. There was an 'open market' selling accessories, t-shirts, souvenirs, food and so on.

We also took an opportunity to get on Christchurch Tram which is very famous in New Zealand (I don't know about other places). It was a short tour of the town, and basically we managed to see important places such as the field which the first rugby game was held in NZ etc. Apart from that, we also went for punting at Avon River whereby we hopped in a boat (sort of) and rode along the narrow river. It was fun though! As rain pouring down heavily later in the evening, we decided to spend our time in the Art Gallery. They indeed value art largely. At night, we just stayed at the backpackers, trying to get a good rest for the next journey.

On our 3rd day in Christchurch, we did nothing much. We went to visit University of Canterbury, very very nice and beautiful university. Credit to Ana for showing us around! At night we stopped by the Port of Lytellton for a while before spending the rest of the night resting at our accommodation.

The next day, we went around the city by bicycle provided at our backpackers. It was fun to ride it as we hadn't ride one since ages! We took the opportunity of having our own 'little transport' to visit places such as the Bridge of Remembrance, Christchurch Botanic Gardens and Christ's College Canterbury. There are a lot of old and historical buildings, and indeed, are very beautiful. It was our last day here, goodbye Christchurch!

Trip to South Island - Day 1 (Picton, Kaikoura, Christchurch)

Onboard - Arahura Ferry
Still onboard
Good friends.. and beautiful view!
View all 12 photos...
At last! Apart from the fact that we all had to wake up early for a 9.30am ferry, the journey was not at all disappointing. In fact, it was very meaningful and we were all deeply amazed by the beauty that South Island managed to offer us.

From Wellington, we took a 3 and 1/2 hours ferry until Picton. We continued our journey to Christchurch by bus and it took us about almost 5 hours to reach our final destination. We only stopped a while in Kaikoura. As we reached Christchurch, everyone was so excited to see a city which is worldly known as 'the Garden city'. Indeed it is true, Christchurch is so beautiful that we failed to resist the temptation of exploring the city regardless of our tiredness. The city is even more beautiful at night!

Trip to Wairarapa: Day two

View of the world outside from my bedroom window..

Another great room
View all 18 photos...
Another day.. yeah.. woke up in the morning.. huhu.. goodbye my comfy bed.. Before having breakfast at the cottage, some of us went around the mansion which consists of 30 rooms altogether! And they are not for public~! Can you believe that?? Each of the rooms are decorated differently.. And it makes the mansion very very unique..

Later we had our breakfast, packed our stuff and got ready to explore Wairarapa.. We toured around the cities by bus.. (credit to Aunt Robin)

First we went to Carterton to check out the Paua Shell Factory and Shop. Paua shell can only be found in New Zealand and this is the only factory in the whole country. We took this chance to shop for souvenirs such as the paua shells itself, jewellery and so on. Such a great pleasure to be there.

Our next destination is Greytown. Here, we took our lunch and explored the small town for a while before heading off to Martinborough, where it is famous for its wine trails. We stopped for a while at the town and snapped some pictures. Next, we went back to Longwood to fetch our begs and to thank the owner and his wife for being so generous to have all 9 of us at their farm.. Goodbye Longwood.. I shall miss you much~

The next thing I knew, we were on the train to Wellington.

Tengok gambar U rindu saya pada New Zealand especially Auckland and South Island.....cantik tapi boring...awak ambil kos apa kat sana? Wed 10-Aug-2005 09:22

Trip to Wairarapa: Day one

On the train heading off to Featherston
Arrived in approximately one hour later
Kamar peraduan di Longwood mansion
View all 11 photos...
A planned yet unplanned trip.. Heading off around 7pm to Featherston by train, we were being incredulously insane by arriving at the Featherston station without any slightest idea of where to go.. Fortunately, the owner of Longwood Cottage who coincidentally happened to fetch his daughters, gave us a ride to his place, where some of us will be spending the night at. The rest were supposed to go to the other cottage.. Unfortunately no one was there, so all of us spent our night at Longwood.. Very lucky huh..

While 4 of us stayed in the cottage, the rest stayed in the mansion's guestrooms.. Which are superb and wonderful.. I stayed in the same room with Christie, Ummi with Baya in the next room, and our one and only gentleman in this trip, Zul got a room to himself.

After cleaning ourselves, we headed to the cottage to have our dinner with the other four girls. We cooked and ate together.. Near the fireplace.. Wow, such a wonderful feeling.. Around 1 in the morning, we went back inside the mansion, dozed off and hoping that tomorrow would be another great day~

These are the pictures taken during our girls' trip to Otari-Wilton's Bush and Mount Victoria, New Zealand.

The sceneries in the bush are superb, though we are kind of confused with the circular walk path.. hehe.. Later in the afternoon, we have our picnic and pray at one of the lawns before we continue our so-called journey.. hehe..

Our next destination is Mount Victoria. We hop on a bus to get there. It is very very cold at the top. Everyone seems to put on their jackets and windbreakers. Regardless of the wind, we sit and enjoy the views of Wellington city while eating sandwiches. Yummy~!

Everything is great today! (and tiring too!)

3rd Anniversary together

"Moon so bright night so fine
Keep your heart here with mine
Life’s a dream we are dreaming
Race the moon catch the wind
Ride the night to the end
Seize the day stand up for the light
I want to spend my lifetime loving you
If that is all in life I ever do.... "

Happy 3rd anniversary... Hope that we can be together forever~
